Summary
The Assistant Director of Student Experience assists the Director of Advising and Student Success to ensure student advising runs efficiently, promoting high retention. The Assistant Director of Student Experience is a motivated individual with organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate, assist and overall aid in the efforts of College of Graduate and Professional Studies/TrineOnline programs. This individual is responsible for ensuring that each student has an excellent student experience.
This position is full-time with the expectations of 40 hours per week with occasional evening and/or weekend work required. The remote/flexible work schedule allows a hybrid work environment of remote and on-site work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise and register students through one-on-one, individualized advising.
- Assist with graduation verification and work to ensure uniformity in academic advising.
- Approve undergraduate students to take graduate level courses.
- Screen, interview, hire, and train contracted academic advisors.
- Assist in day-to-day student support efforts.
- Serve as a mentor for at-risk students and assist advisors with at-risk student related issues.
- Develop and deliver initial student support presentations.
- Manage UEI 500 International Graduate Orientation and schedule RSH 500 Graduate Research Preparation.
- Supervise contracted academic advisors in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
Preferred:
- Experience in online learning or higher education.
- Experience with advising students, student affairs, counseling or related experience.
- Management experience.
