Wealth Management Risk is responsible for identifying, measuring and managing the current and emerging risks of the WM division and, in coordination with WM's Business Control Units and Second Line Risk Management and Compliance, implementing control processes and procedures to mitigate risk consistent with WM's risk appetite and governance framework


Wealth Management (WM) Privacy Risk Assistant Vice President is responsible for driving privacy implementation strategies and governance for the Wealth Management business line. The team is looking for a professional to play a key role in helping to drive consistent privacy assessment and control implementation across various business initiatives, Innovation, and M & A integration efforts. The individual will assist in partnering with stakeholders to standardize and centralize processes and implement technology controls to reduce privacy risk and improve the handling of consumer data across various lines of business. The individual will report to the Vice President for Privacy Assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
    Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders and other control partners in Legal, Compliance and Risk to drive policy and process improvements and support alignment of Wealth Management strategic initiatives
    Manage workflows over privacy impact assessments, data-sharing reviews and privacy risk gap assessments
    Perform WM privacy risk assessments of WM projects and initiatives as part of the overall risk management workflow
    Manage and maintain the SharePoint Project Inventory of privacy risk assessments
    Identify and manage improvement of processes requiring enhancements that mitigate risk in the business and build efficiency
    Effectively communicate ideas, guidance and concerns to manager, business partners, internal privacy risk team and other control partners
    Create and oversee privacy controls that support the use of wealth management consumer and prospect data in strategic business initiatives and projects
    Review, update and maintain standards and procedures as well as privacy-by-design diagrams and presentations
    Support Risk and Control Self-Assessment exercises, internal audits and compliance assessments
    Maintain strong working knowledge of requirements of global data protection laws as well as Morgan Stanley's data protection policies and standards

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills:
    5+years of experience in a privacy operations role in one or more of the following disciplines (privacy, data security, data governance, information management or operational risk management)
    Bachelor's degree in relevant field
    Working knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, and privacy risks including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, CAN-SPAM, PIPEDA, etc.
    Strong attention to detail
    Ability to research independently and quickly gain familiarity with privacy laws and technologies with privacy impact
    Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak in technical and non-technical business contexts
    Good project management skills with the ability to support multiple work streams
    Working knowledge of privacy management tools and solutions
    Expertise in all MS Office tools, including Power Point, Excel, Project, Visio, Teams and SharePoint
    Ability to nimbly pivot upon changing priorities
Preferred Skills:
    Financial Industry experience
    Relevant professional certifications such as CIPM, CIPP, CRISC etc.
    Advanced degree in relevant field of study
    Working knowledge of privacy management tools and solutions
    Passionate about privacy and the protection of customers' personal information
    Privacy advocate and influencer among peers and partners
    Experience in supporting audit and regulatory inquiries and interactions

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
