American Products, Inc. (API) manufactures architectural metal products from our facilities in West Tampa / Oldsmar, FL. Our customers include national accounts like Wawa, Coopers Hawk Restaraunts, Tire Kingdom, Carabbas Restaurant and indoor mall chains like Gucci, Footlocker and so many more. We also complete work for many local projects in the Tampa Bay area. For example, we designed and produced all of the custom sunshades / canopies in central Hyde Park.

We are hiring an AutoCAD Drafter with experience in the commercial construction and/or manufacturing industries. However, we will train motivated candidates on all of our products if you do not have prior related experience.

Our AutoCAD Drafters will create detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for a wide variety of products such as storefronts and doors, canopies, railings, sunshades, metal panel systems like ACM, custom metal products, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for storefront glazing products, metal products such as storefront, canopies, etc. (note - will train motiviated candidates with autocad experience)
• Analyze and interpret architectural plans to create our product details
• Perform material take-offs as needed from the shop drawings and fabrication drawings and create detailed list of materials needed
• Work very closely with our project managers and production managers on each project
• Work on new product development and design as required
• Create standard details to be used by internal teams and our clients
• Maintain detailed library of drawings, details and more

Key Qualifications for our AutoCAD Drafter:

• 1+ year in construction/building materials/manufacturing industry preferred.
• Prior drafting experience in Autocad and or Engineering
• Prior architectural metals, storefront, glazing / fenestration, canopies, awnings exp. a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of various types of architectural building materials such as Storefront systems, Canopies, Awnings, ACM, Handrail, Doors, Asset Protection, Restroom Partitions & Accessories, Division 8, Division 10 and or Division 5, etc. a plus but not required.
• Read and understand blueprints.
• Must have very strong computer skills.
• Engineering background a definite plus but not required!
• Architectural exp. a definite plus.
• Bluebeam, Sketchup and or Revit exp. a plus but not required.
• Must enjoy working on a variety of different project types.
• Prior experience with storefront, fenstration, glazing, canopies, acm, a plus but not required.
