This position is full time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 210 days per year, Limited Term for the 2023-24 school year only. See attached calendar for extact work dates.

SUMMARY:
The CTE Coordinator serves to design, lead, coordinate, integrate, implement and be accountable for the work of career and technical education (CTE) programming which includes career and technical education coursework, academic and career planning (ACP), school to work coordination, industry internships, technical college partnerships, and comprehensive counseling and support for students. The CTE Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all CTE programs are aligned to other educational options such as: high school graduation standards, K-12 curriculum, advanced learning, staff development, and school counseling. All CTE budgets, grants, and documentation necessary for effective CTE programming will be accounted for by the CTE coordinator in conjunction with the Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Equity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborate with the site College, Career and Life Readiness Coordinators at East and West to ensure equity and access to CTE programming for all students in grades 6-12

Coordinate and facilitate the Business Education Partnership committee and related activities (Reality Rocks, Reading Buddies, etc.) for East, West and PPA

Support planning and facilitation of the CTE steering committee in collaboration with the Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Equity

Lead the alignment and maintenance of current curriculum for all 6-12 CTE coursework in collaboration with the Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Equity

Assist Teaching, Learning, and Equity Department with all state/federal grants for work-based learning, including the Carl Perkins grant and Act 59 incentive grant, and any other documentation needed for the Dane County CTE School Consortium.

Establish and maintain a budget aligned to Carl Perkins Grant and Act 59 in collaboration with the Director of Secondary Teaching, learning, and Equity that equitably serves all high school CTE programs

Assist applicable personnel with optimizing technical education learning spaces through referendum/Act 59 funding and adequately furnish those areas with proper equipment

Work with all staff to ensure that the career and technical education program is fully integrated into other educational options such as: high school graduation standards, K-12 curriculum, advanced learning, staff development, and counseling

Forge positive working relationships with local businesses in order to provide opportunities for place-based learning - including coordinating guest speakers, site-based job shadowing, project development and place-based mentorships [community focused]

Conduct on-site visits and coach students participating in place-based learning. Provide feedback to East and West College, Career and Life Readiness coordinators and the employer providing placement opportunities

Serve as SPASD liaison to the Sun Prairie Education Foundation and Other Community Civic Groups

Collaborate with other SPASD district-level coordinators and program managers

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assigned in accordance with district’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in vocational programs or related fields and six to eight years of experience in related field and/or teaching.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Ability to draw and interpret graphs and spreadsheets. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

ANALYTICAL AND REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in written and verbal communications. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies. Ability to use technology to accomplish job responsibilities that may include basic knowledge of e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES:
Must possess and maintain or be eligible to obtain a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license to teach in a vocational area. A CTE Coordinator or LVEC is preferred. Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Shall complete a physical examination as required by Wisconsin Statute 118.25.
