CLASSIFICATION TITLE: DIGITAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

The purpose of the Digital Media Specialist’s classification is to assist Clayton County Interactive and Web Technologies Division in the creation and management of digital content used on the county’s website and in various marketing initiatives. The Digital Media Specialist reports to the Interactive and Web Technologies Division Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Coordinate and support the creation of digital content in various forms (e.g. website blogs and podcasts)

Applies web analytics and marketing tools to improve the visibility and search ranking of the County’s website and/or event pages

Liaise with the Board of Commissioner’s Communications Division team to ensure brand consistency across all platforms

Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the County performance management software system

Proactively reviews and manages website content for timeliness, relevance, and accuracy

Assists web developers with implementation of new and updated websites

Conducts training with county employees to enable them to update departmental information

Schedules and meets with other departments to plan major content updates and page modernization initiatives

Optimizes content and images for web site look, feel and performance

Stay up to date with digital media developments

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of four (4) years college courses in Information Technology, Digital Media or closely related field, in lieu of an Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Digital Media or closely related field and four (4) years previous experience and/or training involving the creation and maintenance of a digital content; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must provide and maintain a personal vehicle to use to conduct official county business which may include after-hours return trips.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in moderate work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard of workstation.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as noise extremes, machinery, electric currents, or traffic hazards.
