About Smithfield Foods:
The Maintenance Technician, Corporate Campus is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of grounds, facilities, and offices. This includes, but is not limited to, all maintenance operations at our Corporate Campus and other supported locations within the area. This role will conduct daily preventative maintenance inspections as well as assigned tasks as needed.
Core Responsibilities:
- Repair and/or replaces office related mechanical systems on a schedule or emergency basis. Examples may include:
- Applying Adhesives, Sealants, and Caulk
- Cleaning Sewer Lines
- Installing small appliances
- Fixing Leaking and Clogged Lines
- Installing Sinks and Faucets
- Interpreting Mechanical & Architectural drawings
- Performs preventative maintenance activities as required.
- Performs maintenance on office, grounds and facility equipment as needed.
- Assist with new installations and other projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor and/or manager.
- Maintains presentable upkeep of plant grounds and surroundings.
- Approaches job duties with a sense of accuracy and urgency.
- Identifies spare parts needed to maintain minor mechanical systems and build inventory.
- Use of various gas-powered landscaping equipment
- Perform routine facility walkthrough, provide feedback / written report, and handle observed issues that need immediate attention

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
- Vocational or Technical Diploma from a technical maintenance or vocational school and 2+ years’ relevant experience, required.
- Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial mechanical systems, preferred
- Experience light cabinetry and drywall repairs, preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in the State of Virginia.
- Working knowledge and skills in operating a variety of small hand tools and devices used in general mechanical maintenance operations, required.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills, required.
- Ability to operate full size tractor, preferred.
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
- Ability to work overtime / off hours when needed
- Ability to read and write the following: work orders, instructions, daily reports, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to receive and relay orders/information using various communication devices.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
