The Manufacturing Engineer position evaluates the entire manufacturing cycle and implements process improvement to optimize overall production capabilities. Experience with production cycle scheduling and development of work flow instructions are essential. Requirements include an understanding of metal fabrication equipment, materials coating processes, switchgear assembly and testing.

Essential Functions:

· Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and create improvements to gain efficiency throughout the fabrication and production cycle.

· Generate reports to enable management to better understand future requirements for manufacturing processes and staffing levels.

· Ensure manufacturing processes follow applicable standards, laws and regulations.

· Maximize efficiency in material handling and part/equipment staging.

· Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure production equipment remains fully operational.

· Laying out workstations to optimize production processes, utilizing cell-based approach.

· Perform other related duties which may be required by supervisor.

· Space planning and effective utilization skills

· Provides technical expertise to teams.

· Interface with QC teams to establish consistent product output.

· Participate in ISO and other audits

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Competencies:

· Understanding of metal fabrication processes including shear, mechanical punch and press brake equipment, in association with assembly of bolted construction enclosures.

· Experience in switchgear or electrical distribution equipment manufacturing a plus.

· Understanding of ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing processes/procedures.

· Works well under pressure

· Ability to schedule multiple work centers to maintain consistent product throughput

Education and Experience:

· 4 year college degree in manufacturing engineering or related technology.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.

· Previous experience in manufacturing or production management a plus.
