Mechanical Engineer - Rome, New York

The Mechanical Engineer will have experience with design, load testing, and manufacturing. Experience with US Government First Article Testing manufacturing procedures is desired. Deployed Global Solutions primarily repurposes shipping containers and trailers into housing, ablution, and kitchen modules used for life support in austere or emergency situations and has recently made a multimillion-dollar investment in a fabrication facility and tooling to expand into new markets of custom builds for clients in the government, commercial, and entertainment markets.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Developing code complaint and cost-effective designs from customer and leadership inputs.
• Reviewing all current products looking for more efficient designs, materials, and build techniques.
• Working with Purchasing and Estimating to produce basis of estimate material lists, build schedules and budgets.
• Assist in the review and approval of plans, including goals and objectives, work breakdown structure, detailed scope descriptions, detailed schedules, risk management approach, milestone descriptions, budgets and staffing requirements.
• Ability to Stamp/Certify new design requirements.
• Providing technical direction, preparing briefings for Engineering Manager, and assisting in problem resolution specific to the program/project.

• Writing manufacturing/testing procedure reports. Participating in all activities related to the development of new products.
• Providing technical support to sales and marketing for bids and proposals.

Work Environment

This job operates in workshop, office, and facility environments. We operate inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position based remotely. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience to include:
• Experience with commercial, industrial, and/or manufacturing.
• Experience with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Product Data Management (PDM) software.
• Experience with HVAC, Plumbing, Welding (design), and sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience with US Government First Article Testing manufacturing procedures is desired.
• Must be fully proficient with SolidWorks CAD software.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

• Must be a U.S. Citizen authorized to work in the U.S.
• Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug test, motor vehicle record review. Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check.
• Must show proof of Covid vaccination, or approved exemption, prior to beginning work.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
