Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in optical sensor solutions for consumer electronics.
- Experience in optical design, modeling, simulation, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with optics (e.g., lenses, diffusers, thin films) and sensor opto-electronics (e.g., photodiode front-ends).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in MATLAB and simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, or LightTools.
- Understanding about trade-offs between sensor performance and user-level features.
- Understanding of productization process (xVT), associated goals, and metrics to ensure success.
- Familiarity with various types of optical detectors (e.g., photo diode, APD, SPAD) and emitters (e.g., LED, laser, VCSEL).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead Electro-Optical sensing architect for Google Pixel Ecosystem of Products (PEP), with particular focus on under/through display optical transmission and sensing.
- Design, model, simulate, and characterize optical sensing modules (e.g., proximity sensor, ambient light sensor) for next-generation products.
- Define sensor technology roadmaps to become in alignment with Project Execution Plan (PEP) products, compatible next generation hardware/physics, and land industry leading user experiences (UX).
- Collaborate with vendors to produce next generation sensor variants to achieve Devices and Services Product Area (DSPA) product roadmap goals. Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Display, Partner Domains (PD), Camera, Quality, Reliability, etc.) to forecast engineering challenges associated with roadmapping goals.
- Innovate with Software (SW) teams to optimize optical sensor driver architecture, improve post processing algorithm methods, and streamline sensor data in the Android framework ecosystem.
