PARAPROFESSIONAL, LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required.
- A valid Missouri Teaching Certificate is preferred.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal and Library Media Specialist
JOB GOAL:
To provide support to the Library Media Specialist and the library media
program and assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning
the environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional
program and available resource materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist students, staff, administrators, and the community in the library media center.
- Supervises students in the library media center.
- Helps patrons find and utilize instructional materials and equipment in the library media center.
- Assist in developing and placing orders for new materials.
- Maintain contact with vendors on the status of purchase orders and ongoing subscriptions.
- Assist with processing/cataloging new material acquired by the library media center.
- Assist with circulation and re-shelving of resources.
- Maintains the condition of library media center materials by suggesting replacement and/or making repairs.
- Maintain records as materials and equipment are checked out and returned.
- Keep inventory of library media center supplies.
- Provide support to other district library media specialists as requested.
- Maintain a working knowledge of collections.
- Create promotional displays, exhibits, and flyers.
- Assist with the supervision of students and/or patrons during emergency drills.
- Assist with the training of library media center volunteers and student helpers.
- Help teachers prepare for instruction by gathering/delivering resources.
- Assist the library media specialists with instructional activities, including reading aloud and helping with online searches.
- Serves as a substitute for the library media specialist or teacher, as assigned by the building administrator on an emergency basis.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the software applications used by the school district including but not limited to PowerSchool SIS and Destiny system.
- Generate confidential and general correspondence, reports, memorandums, forms, and statistical data as requested by the library media specialist.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the library media center’s automated catalog system used to manage collection and circulation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the district’s online resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate, and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

The work environment is consistent with the typical office/school environment.

Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
