Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center has an excellent opportunity for a certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of two years’ experience. We are seeking a * pool/per diem* neonatal nurse practitioner to join our Level III NICU provider staff. The provider team currently includes 4 Neonatologists, 6 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, 1 NICU pediatrician hospitalist, and 1 pool Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who provide 24/7 in-house coverage for patient care and high-risk deliveries. There are minimal transport responsibilities. We are expanding our model to one 24-hour NNP and one 8-12 hour NNP 7 days a week.
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a 411-bed regional tertiary care and ACS-verified Level II trauma center serving a population of 500,000, and we are the regional referral center for perinatal, neonatal and pediatric care for the northern two-thirds of the state of Maine. Pediatric subspecialty services include surgery, gastroenterology, child neurology, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology, genetics, hematology-oncology, developmental pediatrics, orthopedics, and ophthalmology.
We practice in a state-of-the-art NICU with 29 single-family rooms. Our NICU has 35 beds to accommodate multiple gestations and all of our rooms include en-suite space for families to stay with their newborns. We actively use iNo, whole body cooling, HFOV, bubble CPAP, and perform PDA ligations. We have about 450 admissions a year, 25% of these are transports. Our neonatal transport team provides 24/7 coverage. We use an RN-RN transport model with helicopter, fixed wing, and ground capabilities. We are an active part of the Vermont Oxford Network, participate in local and statewide research projects, and host medical students.
Our neonatal nurse practitioners are involved in outreach education throughout the region and serve as NRP and STABLE instructors. Candidates must be NCC certified, have prescriptive authority, and hold a current Maine license or be immediately eligible for the same.
