The Engineering team has an opening for a Regional Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader.

Location: Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA, or Lincoln, NE.

Position Summary

As the Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead you will be responsible for leading design of Electrical systems for buildings across a variety of sectors including Higher Education, K-12, Arts & Culture, Justice/Civic, Retail, Hospitality and Energy. You will lead Electrical engineering teams to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit and manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements. As part of the integrated design team, you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs.

You will be responsible for leading the design process of Electrical building systems and preparing detailed Electrical engineering drawings and calculations. Responsibilities include management of Electrical Engineers/Designers and other team members.

The successful candidate will

  • Manage operations, execution, and expectations for the regional electrical team in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA, and Lincoln, NE.
  • Develop, communicate, and update operations plans to include information such as objectives, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Direct or coordinate activities of personnel, vendors, and consultants.
  • Assign duties, responsibilities, and projects to personnel.
  • Schedule, facilitate and document meetings with staff and clients related to overall operations.
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership to perform all personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting the RFP process and interview process.
  • Actively engage in community and/or industry-specific organization(s) that will build the DLR Group brand.
  • Maintain industry leading workplace practices to drive the operating unit and culture towards a great place to work status.
  • Properly balance staffing and workload to achieve profit and revenue growth goals.
  • Develop electrical designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and electrical system layouts.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Coordinate electrical design requirements with Owners.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer.
  • 8 years or more of experience as an Electrical Engineer designing electrical building systems on complex projects.
  • Prior experience leading teams of engineers.
  • Experience with specification writing, construction administration, multi discipline coordination, scheduling, and management of multiple engineering projects.
  • Experience with direct client contact.
  • Experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm as an engineer designing systems for Educational projects (K-12 and Higher Education), Sports, Hospitality, Justice + Civic Projects, Workplace projects, or Cultural + Preforming Arts projects.
  • Working knowledge of current Electrical software (Revit, Agi32, SKM PowerTools)

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accredited Professional with experience participating in LEED projects.
  • Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
