The Center for Obesity Research and Education (CORE) in the College of Public Health at Temple University is seeking a full time Research Assistant for several studies focused on the etiology and treatment of obesity. The Research Assistant will report directly to the Project Manager and will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other project staff.

Essential Functions: The Research Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of several clinical research studies. Responsibilities include: with appropriate authorization and training, recruiting, screening, obtaining consent, and enrolling study participants; scheduling study visits and coordinating participant incentives; conducting study visits, meeting all quality assurance and confidentiality guidelines for data collection, and assuring accurate completion of questionnaires and other data collection during study visits (paper and/or electronic data capture); ensuring project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately; managing purchasing (ordering supplies and reimbursements to participants); assisting with the preparation of presentations and publications; coordinating research specimen collection and delivery; adhering to IRB-approved protocols and complying with institutional policies, SOPs, and guidelines; assisting with IRB submissions; and assisting with clerical duties such as file maintenance, copying, shipping, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Professions, Public Health, Psychology or related field, and at least six months of related working experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and at a high level, and attend to detail.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to adhere to program deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer research questionnaires and acquire patient measurements.
Preferred:
  • Previous experience with REDCap Database.
  • Familiarity with data entry systems such as SPSS.

This position requires a background check.
This is a grant funded position.



This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
