Job Description


This is a Research Engineer position in the Package and Systems research group within Intel CR Technology Development organization. You would be joining a multidisciplinary team of researchers charged with developing novel technologies and package architectures to enable continued semiconductor scaling, mm-wave communications at various length scales, and differentiating capabilities within packaging. If you are interested in a position that combines hands on experimental work with precision engineering then this may be a position for you. In this role you will be responsible for enabling precision e.g. less than 50 nm component placement, at high throughputs in a clean-room environment.

You will be responsible for detailed equipment and process understanding, including but not limited to:

  • Alignment fiducial design and registration measurements and influence of the optical system, e.g. lighting, multi-layer features and image processing algorithm selection

  • Nanometer level geometric tolerances, inspection and monitors to ensure conformance to these tolerances

  • Quantifying and minimizing environmental impacts such as particles, temperature, humidity on process conditions

  • Working with equipment vendors to meet challenging programmatic process goals and evaluate hardware modifications


You will work within a team, but have clear individual deliverables with time-constraints.

Qualifications


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Knowledge and/or experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school, work and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a PhD in Mechanical Engineering

  • 6+ months experience in one of the following areas: Precision engineering, Opto-mechanics, Mechatronics or Robotics


Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 6 months experience in one of the following areas:

  • Sub-micron alignment and positioning systems

  • Micro- and/or Nano-fabrication processes and analytical methods

  • Theoretical mechanics and characterization methodologies.

Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
