Duties & Responsibility:

Knowledge: Must have at least 5 years of residential remodeling experience. Good base knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, and materials. Must be able to do framing layout and finishing of typical projects including new additions and remodeling. Experience with running a crew is a plus.

- Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work
- Designing and installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation
- Adding fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures
- Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer’s budget and style
- Calculating the number of fasteners required for each job
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals
- Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations

Skills & Qualifications:

- An associate degree or an apprenticeship in carpentry
- Creativity and design skills
- Experience of using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws and nail guns
- Joinery or cabinet-making skills
- Knowledge of building regulations and codes to be adhered to

Working Conditions: 99% of time is spent working at job sites. On job at 7:30am, end of day at 4:00 pm. 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Physical: Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project. Requires ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 30 feet.

Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.

Hazards: Normal hazards associated with construction environment.

Tools: Personal hand tools and basic power tools required.
