Laurel Technical Institute is a COARC, state-approved and ACCSC accredited Institution. Instructors are required to develop, maintain, and update appropriate curriculum to fulfill the training objectives of the corresponding training program. Instructors are required to maintain up-to-date knowledge in their teaching field, maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position, and assist with curriculum assignments. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned classes as per the assigned schedule following the set procedures and protocols of the College. Instructors are responsible for effective classroom management and are responsible for implementing strategies to ensure the achievements of academic objectives.

This position is part-time/adjunct. The school is seeking instructor(s) to teach courses included in the Respiratory Therapy program. The program curriculum is aligned with the testing outline of the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Adjunct Instructor Position Description:

Provide didactic and laboratory instruction, clinical precepting, and evaluation of student achievement in specific content areas within the Respiratory Care Program as assigned. The instructor works under the guidance and supervision of the Respiratory Care Program Director. Candidates must meet the below criteria.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under direction of the Program Director of the Respiratory Care Program:

  • Develop, teach, and evaluate students' accomplishment of specific objectives;
  • Coordinate the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the respiratory care program;
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain clinical sites to which students are assigned;
  • Supervise students' clinical experiences in a variety of assigned agencies;
  • Coordinate program goals with other college courses and health occupations programs;
  • Participate in the development and revision of curriculum, program evaluation, and the assessment of student learning outcomes;
  • Participate in professional development activities;
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject-matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies;
  • Work cooperatively with other department members, the program director, DCE and DOE to develop and maintain quality instruction; and

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years field experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Current PA License as Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Must be Certified by NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Bachelor`s Degree in Respiratory Care required
  • Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills

  • Organize clinical experience for respiratory therapy students. Obtain/maintain Affiliation Agreements.
  • Review clinical sites to ensure appropriate learning experience for RT students.
  • Plan/implement changes as necessary for appropriate clinical instruction.
  • Schedule meetings each semester with clinical sites to evaluate the rotation process & student progress.
  • Develop the clinical rotation schedule for all RT students each semester.
  • Inform sites of clinical rotations prior to start of each semester and submit student documentation to clinical sites prior to start of semester.
  • Develop course materials, instruct classes per schedule, and evaluate student's progress throughout the semester.
  • Counsel students on course-related matters
  • Update and revise syllabi, outlines, course materials, and textbooks as needed.
  • Submit class attendance and assignments daily.

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years field experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Must be Certified by NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Licenses in the states of PA & OH
  • Bachelors Degree (Master's Preferred)
  • Hold current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP Certification
  • AARC Member
  • Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work in Hermitage, PA

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $27.50 - $28.50 per hour
