GCSTO Swim Lesson Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Lessons Director and in accordance with the policies of the Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio (GCSTO), the Swim Lesson Instructor provides swim lessons to small groups of children of all levels and abilities based on the GCSTO swim lessons program and curriculum.

Classes will be held at one of three community pools in Upper Arlington, 8:30-11:00am, Monday-Thursday. There may be additional opportunities for evening classes as well. Swim Lesson Instructors will earn $17/hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• The swim instructor is responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants
• Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions and clean up as needed.
• Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons.
• Submits completed lesson progress certificates and attendance information on time.
• Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
• Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
• Utilize app-based time clock and monitor timesheet. Bring any corrections to Lessons Director within a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency of swimming strokes and the ability to instruct and demonstrate in a group session.
• Ability to fully engage with the students in your sessions.
• Must be a self-starter, maintaining high energy and a positive attitude.
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
• Ability to lift light equipment as needed, and to lift a small to average size child.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

• No certifications are needed as you will be under the supervision of GCSTO’s Lessons Director and/or designated Lead Instructors.

Certified lifeguards will be on duty during all swim lesson sessions.

• Training will be provided by GCSTO’s Lessons Director.

• Walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling to reach equipment.
