THE OPPORTUNITY
Requirements
The project is slated to begin May 15th and last for 15 months
Onsite or Hybrid working in Springfield, Oregon would be highly preferred, but REMOTE is an option!
Our client is currently running Microsoft AX2012 as an ERP system to manage Finance and operations. They seek to migrate to the cloud version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations ("D365FO").
Wave 1: Implement all Standard processes, workflows, reports, integrations, extensions, and Master Data for the plants, and Transactional data migration for mills in Yreka, CA, and Corinth, MS.
Wave 2: Roll out the above solution for Medford Hardwood, Medford Particle board, Grant Pass, and Value-Added plants and perform Transactional data migration for the plants.
Wave 3: Roll out the above solution in the two mills in MichiganThe ERP project's key is standardizing the processes, minimizing customizations, and embracing leading industry best practices.
The requirements gathering phase of the project was conducted in the fall of 2022. The remaining phases, which start in mid-May, are described below:
-
- Mobilization (two weeks)
- Design and Development Sprints (8 Sprints over the course of 5.5 months)
- Systems Integration Testing (6 weeks)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) (9 weeks)
- Implementation and stabilization of the Mississippi and California mills (6 weeks)
- Implementation and stabilization of the Southern Oregon mills (11 weeks)
- Implementation of the Michigan mills (they don’t expect the Business Analyst to be needed on this implementation) – 7 weeks
This implementation involves Microsoft D365. The Business Analyst (BA) would be performing conventional BA tasks to include:
-
- Participation in the design sessions, beginning (probably) with Sprint #2 in late June and continuing for the balance of the Sprints; the start date for this person could be earlier, depending on the skills and experience they possess
- Participation in the Systems Integration testing, possibly developing and executing test scripts
- Participation in the UAT, to include the development and execution of test scripts.
- Participation in the development of training materials
- Participation in the two implementations – these implementations might involve traveling not to exceed being on site for any more than 12 days at a time. Our client is willing to fly the individual home every weekend if there are extenuating circumstances. Total travel exposure during the two implementations is less 4 weeks for each of them, 8 weeks total. Work hours during implementations will probably involve weekends and possibly time on swing or graveyard shifts.
As part of Sprints, the Business Analyst would be asked to perform sprint-related tasks, which might include contributing to making the processes being discussed as efficient as possible, documenting a decision to be made or a decision that has been made or logging issues in the DevOps environment relating to the processes discussed
As part of the SIT and UAT, the Business Analyst would be helping to prepare and execute test scripts, logging script execution results and any issues.
As part of the Implementations, the Business Analyst would be assisting with training of the trainers or the users of the system, helping to develop training materials as needed (there should not be a lot of this, as they are employing Avanade’s OCM team to do the bulk of the work) and helping with any other Cutover or Go-Live tasks
