Job Summary

The Plant Foreman oversees activities of workers engaged in the aggregate operations by assinging tasks to crewmembers and performing administrative tasks. This position is an hourly non-exempt supervisory position.

Main Responsibilities

  • Promote safe work practices and an excellent safety culture.
  • Responsible for the crew's observance of all company, client, and government rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates, directs, and controls plant activities.
  • Determine quantities, materials, tools, equipment, and labor needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Perform daily pre-shift plant and property inspection of mine site for MSHA.
  • Prepare daily labor, equipment, and production reports for review by Plant Superintendent.
  • Complete PO's and credit card statements.
  • Ensure work progresses according to schedule.
  • Ensure routine maintenance and necessary care of equipment is performed.
  • Effectively recommend actions such as hiring, discharging, suspending, disciplining, and lay-off / recalls of employees.
  • Actively participate in annual employee performance evaluations and any necessary employee performance improvement plans.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for on-site employee concerns and works to resolve all issue before escalating.
  • Responsible for reporting incidents and accidents to Plant Superintendent and Safety Coordinator.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with employees and peers.
  • Ability to responsibly direct crews and assign tasks with independent judgment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes as well as train others on new procedures and processes.
  • Highly level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to employ independent judgment and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Computer / office equipment knowledge and skills.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires an individual to stand, walk, sit, use arms, hands, and fingers. It will require some lifting, handling of objects, and exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
