A licensed LCSW will provide counseling services to patients individually and/or in a group setting, utilizing clinical counseling principles, methods, or procedures to assist individuals in achieving their established goals as outlined in their individual treatment plans resulting in achieving outcomes that are consistent with becoming sober and healthier in personal, physical, social, psychological wellbeing. A Clinical Therapist will assess and analyze emotional conditions, exploring possible solutions, and developing and providing a treatment plan for mental and emotional adjustment or development. It may include counseling, group therapy, appraisal, consulting, supervision, administration and referral. Engage in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders when under the supervision of a professional clinical counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, independent marriage and family therapist, or independent social worker.

Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or in a related field
  • 2 Years Behavioral Health required
  • Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Virginia Department of Health Professions, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Virginia Department of Health Professions, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in the Commonwealth of Virginia or Compact State

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of providing care to individuals who may be emotionally disturbed, socially dysfunctional, behaviorally disordered, suffer from mental illness and/or substance use disorders, and their families;
  • Thorough knowledge of community resources and human services network
  • Thorough knowledge of community-based behavioral health principles and evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment techniques;
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories and techniques of counseling and crisis intervention;
  • Thorough knowledge of intake techniques and procedures; ability to evaluate and screen clients; ability to prepare adequate records and to report findings and data effectively;
  • Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, physicians, clients and their families, associates, community partners, medical personnel, law enforcement, State and Federal agency representatives and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Performs intake assessments, client assessments, and diagnostic interviews; conducts mental health and substance use disorder assessments, and monitors level of functioning appropriately.
  • Monitors and manages an assigned caseload.
  • Provides case management services; coordinates and links clients to community resources and medical services, interfaces with other service providers and the clients’ support systems.
  • Assists clients/patients as needed in arranging for appropriate, identified follow up treatment after discharge.
  • Documents and charts information about client assessment, diagnostic studies, individualized service plans correspondence, medical records, etc., prepares and submits records as requested.
  • Serves on a variety of committees as directed; prepares and distributes agendas; attends and Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.
  • Monitors and audits clinical and medical records and practices for compliance with regulatory, reimbursement and agency standards; reviews documentation for accuracy; assists with reviewing division policies and procedures.
