As a member of the US + CA Legal Policy Operations (LPO) team, you will be integral in ensuring that TikTok is a safe and trustworthy place for our community. LPO is responsible for balancing corporate compliance responsibilities with the appropriate operational safeguards to protect our users’ rights. Within and across each vertical, we work together to develop efficient workflows that mitigate legal risk. We are here to strike a scalable balance between what the law requires and what is operationally feasible to protect our users. We are here to help all our Safety organization and wider company colleagues ensure that we are sustaining an equitable platform that inspires creativity across all markets. Our team is a group of specialists covering Privacy, Intellectual Property & Identity, Legal Response, and Legal Investigations.

In this role, you will become an expert in one or more functions of law enforcement, emergency response, legal investigations, child safety, privacy, and intellectual property. In addition, you will be able to understand the impact of technology, media, and cultural trends. You will be part of a global team, ensuring that our policies and processes safeguard the safety of our users and platforms regionally. The position will require someone with an ability to influence change across levels and cultures. You must be able to successfully deliver concurrent projects and priorities, by taking action from the strategic level down to project details. Above all, the LPO team will look to you for your support, and the right person will be driven by a passion to help others.
This position will be full-time and can be based in any of our Mountain View, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Chicago locations.

Responsibilities:
  • Craft policies and processes using team insights for the LPO team
  • Act as the policy and process escalation point of contact, align all stakeholders on policy positions in the event of sensitive escalations
  • Streamline the implementation of policies and processes, working closely with the rest of the operational team as well as other Trust & Safety functions
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in our current processes, in particular, working with the operational teams
  • Represent the function in large scale legal policy operations projects touching on policy and process implementation
  • Work closely with the operational team to ensure clear process logic of each workflow segment
  • Prepare process explanation documents for each workflow segment, ensuring cognition unity
  • Collect feedback, evaluate improvement suggestions and execute policy and process improvement projects
Qualifications
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience with policy or process development, especially in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Demonstrated operational excellence on teams that evaluate risks and challenges given time-critical deadlines and escalations
  • Excellent oral and written communications with the ability to translate the complex into simple and clear language and gain consensus across teams
  • Proven success in shepherding teams around a common goal (experience with project or product management)
  • Strong attention to detail: highly self-driven and results oriented
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in Policy, Trust & Safety, Legal, Law Enforcement Response, Intellectual Property, or Privacy
  • Experience working in a start-up, or forming new teams in established companies
  • Ability to address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writing, child safety, and other potentially objectionable material

Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $72706 - $178600 annually.



Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
