What’s the Job?

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for supporting carrier relationships and achieving transportation cost and service goals for the IPG Business. This position will work closely with 4PL and Rail carriers to maintain data accuracy of the TMS and supporting systems and serve as a liaison between operations, sales, customer service and the 4PL provider.

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE & INVOICING

• Invoice review and coding- Reviews carrier invoices for accuracy and codes/enters into system for approval.
• Takes lead on invoice review, escalation, and resolution. Manages 3rd Party Freight payment processing and reporting. Root cause payment errors of the auto-payment process.
• Maintains standards and controls the Vendor Management process for IPG, including gathering of documentation and coordination with Master Data team to ensure Vendors are created and maintained accurately.
• System enhancement: Recommends improvements to transportation systems to enhance operational effectiveness. Automates reports or other processes to improve efficiency. Translates operational needs into technical improvements.

LOGISTICS COORDINATION

• Manages 4PL & Rail carrier service & compliance utilizing 4PL system and carrier online programs to monitor location of equipment and proactively address service issues.
• Works with Warehouse Management to schedule and monitor shipments
• Transportation Systems Management – Serves as back up to maintain and enter data into the TMS system, including loading new carriers, and maintaining routes and rates.
• Completes daily/weekly tendering of rail and truckload shipments. Monitors the data integrity for the TMS and ERP from users influencing transportation decisions and information.

DISPATCH SUPPORT AS NEEDED

• Fill in for Load Planners/Transportation Specialists as needed.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business or other related discipline or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ logistics or supply chain management experience
• Ability to work independently to meet established deadlines
• Ability to utilize operational knowledge to add value in strategic planning discussions.
• Identifies potential cross-plant and cross-divisional dedicated equipment lanes and loads to ensure maximum equipment use.
• Participates in carrier meetings, presenting rate analysis and carrier performance information
• Understands transportation rate structures and networks
• Strong systems aptitude, with experience in ERP, Warehouse Management and/or Transportation Management systems
• Strong analytical skills
• Very strong MS Excel skills
